More vibrant colours

door Nathalie Dirix
She was 22 when she first got to know Brussels.

‘I fell in love with Art Deco straight away. The huge, anonymous character also appealed to me. What a contrast with the country where I was born and raised. Everything is more wellordered and organised in the Netherlands. It makes things simpler, but also more boring. I prefer the quirkiness of the Belgian capital. There is always something to discover. I have never ever regretted the decision I made about 20years ago to move to Belgium.’ After a couple of years in Uccle and Etterbeek, she ended up in Tervuren. ‘You really feel at home here, a place where you hear so many different languages and come into contact with a whole variety of cultures. Where you were born is completely irrelevant.’
