Vilvoorde is one of the pioneers of street art in Flanders, boasting over 50 different works by local, national and international artists. They help to add colour to bare, grey areas, while brightening up the streets and squares.

Now a major attraction, the watersite along the canal under the Europa Bridge in Vilvoorde is a melting pot of various styles of street art. This form of artwork by celebrated artists has now appeared in many more locations around the city. Something once considered illegal now enjoys the support of local authorities and is also a big hit with locals and tourists alike.
