Robert Rimez from Sint-Pieters-Leeuw is a man with a passionate interest. As a result of 2.000 kilometres of hiking within the space of one year, he knows the area like the back of his hand. Something that comes in handy when he is mapping out walking routes for the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw hiking club and the Gordelfestival. The walk he is creating for this year's Gordel Festival pays a tribute to the Brabant carthorse. It all seems so very simple but Rimez knows better. ‘Designing this kind of walk is a lengthy process. It easily takes three hours to do the first draft: tracing out and reading maps. I then develop the walking routes one by one. The next thing is to put everything definitively down on paper and set off on the walk myself. Another couple of hours passes by. One walk therefore involves a few days work.’ (RK, juni 2015)
