Ring-TV was launched 20 years ago, an anniversary that is definitely worth celebrating, if only in a small way, because producing regional television programmes in our diverse region is no mean feat. Innovation is paramount: new programmes, sets, techniques and ways to keep the viewers tuning in.

Ring-TV was launched 20 years ago, an anniversary that is definitely worth celebrating, if only in a small way, because producing regional television programmes in our diverse region is no mean feat. Innovation is paramount: new programmes, new sets, new techniques and ways to keep the viewers tuning in. Time and time again. ‘When the first broadcast was made, on 1 March 1995, everything was technically ready but we had to adopt a creative attitude to our resources and staff. What drove us and still does was the need to reach out to and engage our audience in such a diverse area’, says the editor in chief Dirk De Weert. Ring-TV has now grown from a regional news channel into a news brand in Halle-Vilvoorde, featuring a news website and a daily newsletter with the latest regional information. (RK, maa 2015)
