Letting go

‘Meditation is less complicated than you might think. You don’t have to be an expert, take expensive courses or sit on a mat for hours in a lotus position. Meditation is about learning to be in the here and now, learning to let go. And there are many ways of achieving this. I like to compare it to sports: you know how to walk, play tennis, swim,... You choose the sport you feel most comfortable with. I still have a lot to learn, as I have only just started, but one type of meditation I often do is simply to take a deep breath and then exhale, several times in a row. You can do this when your car is stuck in a traffic jam, during a spare moment between meetings, when your plane is delayed. Breathing calmly helps me to let go of things.’
